Post-burn hand deformities are commonly caused by post-burn edema and scar contracture that limits joint range of motion, but they can be compounded by other issues such as tendon damage, muscle tension and ligament imbalance or adhesion of soft tissues. This course will examine in details the principles behind different intervention strategies to prevent the development of post-burn hand deformities in the acute phase, and manage deformities that have already set in during the wound healing and rehabilitation phases.

After this course, you will be able to:
Explain the causes of various types of post-burn hand deformities.
Explain acute stage rehabilitation interventions to prevent post-burn hand deformities.
Explain rehabilitation interventions in the wound healing and rehabilitation stages to manage post-burn hand deformities.
Contenido del curso
Principles for rehabilitation interventions to prevent and/or manage the following post-burn hand deformities:
Edema and its impact on the development of deformities
Claw Hand deformity
Boutonnière deformity
Mallet finger
Swan neck deformity
Cupping hand deformity
Dorsal hooding deformity
Intrinsic tightness
Evaluación
The following evaluations will be done:
Pre-test to assess the level of basic knowledge of the participants.
Mini quiz after each lesson to review the key points of the lesson.
Post-test to evaluate the improvement of the knowledge of the participants.
Approval criteria:
Completion of all course elements within the allotted time period.
Post-test score of 80% and above.
The participant will need to complete all learning activities before the end of the training, after that date the participant will no longer have access to the course content and the learning record will be marked as "incomplete".
Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will receive a certificate of completion.
